The Big Issue

The big issue in the United States and elsewhere is “How to grow the economic pie for everyone.”

The big issue is not the menace of obsolescence.

 

With the advent of automated operations, the number of switchboard operators in the United States fell 43 percent between 1947 and 1960.  It was the beginning of the fall, with hundreds of thousands switchboard jobs eliminated by new technology.

The trend was enough to make anyone manufacturing or working with low technology machines nervous.

Across industry after industry technology has replaced jobs.

Technology had increased productivity.

Advances in technology change the employment landscape.

Advances in technology changes the quality of life for everyone.

Advances in technology changes how everyone lives.

Advances in technology change how everyone does things.

Information gives people power.

Sharing information gives people power.

We are now living in an information sharing economy.

The Answer

The answer to the “menace of technology” is to embrace “new technology.”

The newest technologically spawned opportunity is the opportunity to utilize social media, to utilize the Internet, to bring information to a public seeking and dying to find useful relevant information.

Facebook started out as an “app”  – a social media website on which people/men would share information consisting of photographs of women and rate the attractiveness of the women shown in the photos.  Look what Facebook turned into today — billions of people use Facebook every day

Uber is an “app” in which people share information about sharing a ride.  The people who manage Uber connect people who want a ride with people who want to give a person a ride.  Uber is revolutionizing the taxi business by allowing people who want a ride to find a person with a car who will give them a ride — Uber is a ride sharing information sharing enterprise.

Air b-n-b is an app in which people who have a room for rent can share that information with people who would like to rent a room. Air bnb allows people who have an extra room to find and to connect to people who would like to rent their extra room.  Air bnb is a room for rent information sharing enterprise.  Air bnb is revolutionizing the hotel industry.

The basis of the “information sharing economy” is sharing information via social media (via websites and apps).  Information is shared between people who want something and between people who want to know something with people who have that something for sale or who have that something for rent and people who want the information sought.

Catching Up to the Reality of Women Power/Female Pride

The year 1970 marked the fiftieth anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.  In recognition, the National Organization of Women held a Women’s Strike for Equality.

The strike took place in forty states. with twenty thousand people marching up Fifth Avenue in New York City.

They held signs declaring WE ARE THE 51% MINORITY AND HOUSEWIVES ARE SLAVE LABORS.

The protests put pressure on Congress to pass the Equal Rights Amendment, which would constitutionally guarantee equal rights for woman.

Recently, First Lady Michele Obama explained what that means to Presidential Candidate Donald Trump.

Women have not been treated equally for a long time, even in the United States, and it hurts everyone.

The Internet and Social Media are changing how women are treated.

The Internet and Social Media through information sharing are giving women power.

Sharing Information Applicable to The Changing Role of Women in Society

Women have always loved looking delectable and having men look at them.  That hasn’t changed.

What has changed is the ability via social media (the web, the Internet, and apps) to share information about what makes women look delectable.

Women want to know whether they look delectable.

Women want to know what will make them look delectable.

Women want to know how men rate what they (women) are wearing.

They also want to know how other women rate how they look, what they are wearing.

That doesn’t mean women want to be treated like a piece of meat or to be treated like a sex toy, or to be looked as being a piece of meat or to be looked at as being a sex toy.

Women need to know and want to know : “Do I look good wearing this?”

Men need to know and understand the effort women go through to look good.

My partner Lou Coronado and I launched a website (Dude’s Guide to Women’s Shoes at http://www.dudesguidetowomensshoes.com) in August, 2016 to help men and women answer those questions – our website Dude’s Guide to Women’s Shoes serves that function.

Female Pride

Women want to have a job they are proud of doing and to do work they are good at.

Part of a woman’s job is to wear the right clothes, to dress for success.

Most importantly part of a woman’s  job is to wear the right shoes.

Wearing the right shoes makes women feel strong and purposeful.

Shoes Make the Woman

Women have a sense of dignity and self that is reflected in the shoes they wear.

For example,

• If a woman is going to a wedding she will not want to wear a pair ordinary pair of plain black shoes.
• She will want to wear a pair of shoes appropriate for a celebratory occasion – a pair of sparkly shoes.

Women Want To Be Treated Respectfully

• The shoes a woman is wearing is a piece of art.
• Women want men to understand the message being sent by the shoes they are wearing.
• A woman who is wearing shoes want the men who see her in those shoes to understand that she knows how to dress appropriately for the occasion.
• Women want everyone who looks at them to understand she is is a piece of art and what she is wearing is part of the picture.
• The shoes a woman is wearing is an important part of the art of “appearance.”
• In order to treat a woman “respectfully” a man must understand who she is, what she is doing, the effort skill and talent reflected in what she is doing and also share that information.
• Men: You must comment on the shoes your woman is wearing.  You must comment on her appearance.  Doing so is imperative in our information sharing society.
• That is why women look at the shoes other women are wearing.
• That is why you must look at the shoes all women are wearing.

• The Dudes Guide to Women’s Shoes website at http://www.dudesguidetowomensshoes.com allows women to share information about women’s shoes that men need to know about women’s shoes with men and with other women.

If a woman is a working she wants to have an equal partner at home.  She wants her husband to be a man who understands the work involved in choosing the shoes she is wearing, the effort she made to find and buy those shoes, etc. etc.

At the end of a day at work, many working married woman with or without young children at home say to one another “Now we go home and really work.”

Day after day, working married women go home from their “day job,” rush to make dinner, give the kids a bath and get them to bed, then wash dishes and do laundry.  At 10:00 p.m., they will get into their pajamas and feel exhausted from head to foot.

WAKE UP MEN – We Are Living In An Information Sharing World

• It is important to understand the woman/women in your life.
• Listen to the woman or women who are complaining to you and/or to anyone else.
• Try to understand what she or they are complaining about.
• Comment on what they are wearing.
• Pay attention to them.
• Interact with women attentively.

Women Are Smart.  If You Listen Carefully to their Complaints You May Be Able to Make A Fortune.

Fifty-one percent of the population in the United States are women.  That is a huge market.

Women like wearing new fashion forward shoes, fashionable clothing and fashionable outfits.

Women want to spend their time efficiently and effectively.

Women know what they want to know and make an effort to learn what they need to know.

Women know what they want.

Men who listen to women can make a difference in the quality of life of every woman of every man and help make the economic pie grow for everyone.

Take for example the greatest modern advance in clothing: PANTYHOSE.

PANTYHOSE is hosiery which for the first time united panties with nylons.

Proper Women

For decades “proper women”  wore stockings with garter belts as they headed to work or out for the evening.

Garter belts were a pain. The garter belt often dug into a woman’s stomach and legs.

The History of Pantyhose

Pantyhose came about in the 1950s when Ethel Boone Grant told her husband, on an overnight train from New York City to their home in North Carolina, that she wouldn’t be accompanying him on trips any longer.

She was pregnant; the pain of wearing tight garter belts was too much to bear, far too uncomfortable to bother with.

Yet, she couldn’t leave her house without her hosiery.

Her husband listened to Ethel’s complaint.

From that conversation in the late 1950s pantyhose was born.

Her husband, Allen Grant Sr., ran a textile company.

Allen used his expertise to make a pair of panties and fastened stocking to them.

They called their new product Panti-Legs, later known as pantyhose.

From a woman’s perspective: Allen is a “keeper.”

Women Rating Men/Boys

Women need a list of criteria to use to rate men/boys.

Men need to know what is on that list.

As a member of the information sharing economy trying to make the economic pie grow for me and for everyone else, I am in the process, with input from friends of mine, of developing an app that will allow women to systematically rate men and will allow men to understand how women rate them.

Helping Men Understand Women Is Part And Parcel of the Modern Information Sharing Economy

In August, 2016, I, along with my partner Lou Coronado, launched Dudes Guide to Women’s Shoes at http://www.dudesguidetowomensshoes.com.

The purpose of our Dude’s Guide to Women’s Shoes blog and website is to tell men – give men and women information on – what they need to know about women’s shoes.

I, for one, can tell everything I need to know about a woman instantaneously by looking at her shoes.

Lou and I want to share our knowledge about women’s shoes (1) with all men who want to understand women and (2) with all women who want to know what they need to know about women’s shoes.

That is why Lou and I launched Dude’s Guide to Women’s Shoes.

The Sharing Economy

Business has evolved from being a competitive enterprise to being a sharing/collaborating enterprise.

The new economy is based, in part, on sharing information via social media.

That is what has recently led to the tremendous growth of Facebook, Google, Instagram, U Tube, Twitter, Air BNB, etc.

Not everyone gets that.

Below is a copy of a string of e-mail correspondence I’ve had the past few days with the co-chairs of an Ivy League School’s networking committee about my offer to videotape a program they are about to present on how to write a novel and memoir and how to get it published, and of my later string of e-mail correspondence with an international business woman that took place after my offer to videotape that program for free was declined.

The Bigger Vision

How many dates does it take before a man/boy who has taken you out on a date insults you?
