NOTE FROM A SUPPORTIVE FRIEND – by Gary Smolker

Being alone is not the same as being lonely.

Life is doing.

It is being part of the moment and being aware of nothing else but the moment.

NOTE RECEIVED YESTERDAY

Gary:

How you can even think of devoting several hours to your undersigned devoted friend, with all the balls you have in the air at this time, is astounding—as ever have been lots of things about you.
We can have brunch when your schedule permits.  I have not sought you out because I see how engaged and consumed you are in your current endeavors.  I do not feel neglected or slighted; no question of your friendship or affection arises, as I know none rises in your mind about me.  At times we communicate frequently; other times seldom: makes no difference to underlying relationship.
When you can, send me two or three dates. Almost certainly I can accommodate one, two or all of them.  When the time comes when we can devote some time to us, we shall have lots to chat about.
Jorge
